Private First Class Felix “Swan” S Bigham
Felix Bigham was born May 22, 1921 in Bell County, Texas. He
was wounded July 5, 1944 during fighting in Normandy and died July 26 as a
result of his injuries in England.
His father, Edd N Bigham was a farmer and also owned a store. His
father also served in the Second War as a U.S. Navy Reserve. His
mother called Mary A Lancaster. Felix
had a sister.
Felix Bigham was a graduate of Belton High School and worked at J.H.James &
Sons.
He was enlisted May 12, 1942. He
volunteered for the paratroops and joined the HQ company, 2nd Battalion,
507th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
During the fighting on July 5, 1944, took his section was under German fire. Three
men were hit.
Felix Bigham remained in position with his machine gun and after two hours
of fighting, he was also seriously wounded.
