Staff/Sergeant Ramon B Vigil

 

Ramon Benito Vigil was born in 1921 in Rio Arriba, New Mexico and was killed in action on January 8th, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge.

His father, Benito M Vigil and his mother Rufina Vigil was farmer.

The family has 5 children. Ramon have 4 brothers.

 

The 5 February 1941, Ramon Vigil was enlisted at Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He had completed grammar school and he was single.

He volunteered for the paratroops. He became a Staff Sergeant in Company H of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment attached to beginning to the 82nd Airborne Division.

 

Ramon Vigil participated in Operation Neptune, the jump on Normandy, June 6, 1944. He jumped from the 17th to C-47 No. 4232832 - Chalk # 41.

 

Then his unit was attached to the 17th Airborne Division and with that, he fought in the Belgian Ardennes where he lost his life.

 

Staff Sergaent Ramon B Vigil is interred at the Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Belgium at lot H, Row 12, Grave 37.
