Sergent Charles C Peckham    

 

Charles Peckham was born on June 9th 1913 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York 
and was killed in action on January 19, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge/Belgium. 
Charles Peckham is the son of Charles Eugene Peckham a railroad engineer and the son of Laura Amilia Mildred Buckborough. Charles has 2 brothers Henry and Harry and 5 sisters Amelia, Mildred, Grace, Corinne and Beverly. 
In 1930 Charles Peckham was employed as a railroad messenger. In 1940, he was employed as a gas station attendant.
Charles Peckham enlisted in the Army on April 24 1942 at Buffalo, NY. His enlistment records states Charles had 1 year of high-school, was 5’10”, 170 lbs and was divorced.

He volunteered for the paratroopers, where he joined the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Company B.
During Operation Neptune [June 6, 1944] Peckham parachuted from his C-47 Troop Transport airplane with Tail#43-15137, #40 in the Chalk, #13 in line. Peckham is listed on this jump-roster as a T/5. 
 

Sgt Peckham is interred at the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery, Belgium. at Plot H’ Row “8’ Grave ‘39’.
