Private Walter L Choquette
 

Walter Choquette was born in 1921 in Montana and lost his life the 12 June 1944 at Graignes during the Normandy invasion.

 

His father, Eugene Choquette was a grocer, his mother was called Gladys Riley Choquette. The family has 3 children. Walter had 2 brothers.

 

Walter Choquette was enlisted in 4 March 1942 in Missoula, Montana. He had completed two years of college and worked in the entertainment industry.

 

Walter Choquette volunteered for the paratroops. He will join the Company HQ of 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

On 6 June 1944, with his stick, he was dropped into an area near the small town of Graignes.

He will defend the town with his comrades. Unfortunately, short of ammunition, they had to make. On June 13, 1944, the Germans executed him along with 29 paratroopers.

 

Pvt Walter L Choquette is buried in the American cemetery of Normandy, in Colleville-sur-Mer, France. Plot J, Row 22, Grave 32.
